The one-day international format is one of the three ways the game can be played. In this format, two teams play a match that lasts 50 overs. One-day international games used to last for 60 overs, but now they always last for 50. One-day international games used to last for 60 overs. Still, teams are scoring a lot of runs and destroying their opponents in big wins. This is all thanks to good hitting and making runs quickly. In any version of this game, "runs on the board" is a mantra for success since it's hard to chase the goal when pressure is being put on you. During the history of one-day international cricket and cricket match videos, there have been several important milestones. Today, post is going to look at some of the biggest club wins ever in terms of the number of runs they scored.
- New Zealand and Ireland - 290 runs -
In 2008, the Associates Tri-Series Tournament was held in Scotland. It had teams from New Zealand, Scotland, and Ireland. Ireland went out on the field first because they won the coin toss. New Zealand scored a huge 402 runs, with both Brendon McCullum (166) and James Marshall (100) making their contributions (161). With 274 runs, they also set a new record for the most runs scored by a team. Ross Taylor also hit a fast 59, which made their total score 402-2. Tim Southee and Michael Mason both took three wickets, which meant that Ireland lost by 290 runs. Ireland scored 112 runs in response but was bowled out in 30 overs. Ireland had already lost and had a weaker lineup of batters.
- Afghanistan vs Australia, 275 runs -
During the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, Australia and Afghanistan played a match in Perth. After Australia won the coin toss, Afghanistan decided to let Australia bat first. Australia's score after the first 25 overs was 151-1, and David Warner and Steven Smith were at the crease. Australia scored 266 runs in the next 25 overs, giving them a total score of 417 and a place in the World Cup record books. Warner reached the century mark in one-day internationals for the fourth time in his career. He ended the game with 178 runs, and he and Steven Smith scored 260 runs together. Afghanistan's response was to score only 142 runs because no one in their lineup had more than 35 hits. Mitchell Johnson was able to get rid of four batsmen. Australia had the most runs during their World Cup victory.
- South Africa vs Zimbabwe- 272 runs -
As part of this series, South Africa and Zimbabwe played three One-Day International matches. After South Africa won the coin toss and chose to bat first, they showed what they were going to do by getting to 50 runs in a little more than half of the allotted overs. South Africa's total of 399 runs was helped by quick runs from the lower middle order and by the hundreds scored by JP Duminy (129) and AB de Villiers (109). In 29 overs, the Zimbabwean batting order was out for 127 runs. This meant that their team lost 272 runs.
- South Africa and Sri Lanka-258 -
In Paarl, the first-ever one-day international match, the South African team won the coin toss and chose to bat first. Hashim Amla's century (112 runs) and the half-centuries scored by Jacques Kallis and AB de Villiers helped South Africa set a target score of 302 runs. The South African bowling attack made it so that the Sri Lankan batting order could only score 43 runs when they tried to defend the goal. As of right now, it is the lowest score Sri Lanka has ever had in a One-Day International. The South African team won by a score of 258 runs, making AB de Villiers' first game as captain a good one.
- India to Bermuda. 257 -
This game took place in 2007 as part of the ICC World Cup. Just two days before, Bangladesh humiliated India by beating them. Bangladesh was to blame for India's loss. During their game at the Queen's Park Oval in Port of Spain, Bermuda asked India to be the first team to bat. Even though India lost a wicket early on, they were able to come back because Sehwag hit a century and he and Sourav Ganguly put together a 202-run partnership. India scored a respectable 413 runs in their last session. Yuvraj scored 83 runs off 46 balls, and Sachin scored 57 runs off 28 balls (57 off 29 balls). Bermuda only got a total of 156 runs before they were bowled out before their 50 overs were up.
- South Africa beat West Indies 257 runs -
On March 19, 2015, the 19th match of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground. South Africa was the team that West Indies played in the match. South Africa's huge score of 408/5, which was their fifth wicket, was helped a lot by AB de Villiers's amazing performance. He scored 162 runs off of just 66 balls. ABD lost all sense of reason and hit Jason Holder for 64 runs in the last two overs of the innings. The last 10 overs were very important because South Africa scored 150 runs in them. The bowling was so bad that the West Indies batsmen gave up without putting up much of a fight. After 33.1 overs, their final score was 151/10.
- Australia vs. Namibia, 256 runs -
Australia played Namibia during the ICC World Cup in 2003. After Australia's captain won the coin toss, he chose to bat first and put 302 runs on the board for the other team to catch up to. Namibia's batting order fell apart after Glenn McGrath came on the scene. This happened when they were trying to reach this goal. McGrath bowled seven overs, but only 15 runs were scored. In four of those overs, he didn't lose a wicket. Only 45 runs were scored by Namibia as a whole. The final score was 256 to 0 for Australia and 0 for New Zealand.
- India vs Hong Kong 256 runs -
As part of the Asia Cup in 2008, the event took place. The Indian team got to bat first after the toss because they were able to defend their batting position well. During their turns at bat, MS Dhoni (109*) and Suresh Raina made important contributions to India's total of 374 runs, which led to India's win (101). The answer that Hong Kong gave was turned down by 118 runs. India won by 256 runs, which meant they could celebrate the 25th anniversary of their World Cup win (1983).
- Pakistan and Ireland 255 runs -
In 2016, Pakistan took part in a series of two One-Day International matches in Ireland. Because it rained all night, the first game of the series was cut down to 47 overs. Even though it was cloudy, Ireland chose to bowl first in the match after winning the toss. They did this in the hopes of making conditions more favorable. However, Sharjeel Khan was planning something else. By hitting a boundary and a six in the first over of the game, he showed that he was going to play aggressively. Pakistan's score of 337/6 was helped a lot by his innings, in which he scored 152 runs off of 86 balls hit in his direction. Ireland's response was to score 82 runs, which they did before they were bowled out after 23.4 overs.
- Sri Lanka and India -245 runs -
In 2000, the final of the Cola-Cola Champions Trophy was held in Sharjah. After Sri Lanka won the toss, they chose to bat first in the match. Sanath Jayasuriya was the first batter in the game, and he hit 189 runs off 161 balls, which was the most runs he had ever scored in an ODI. Sri Lanka ended up with a final score of 299 to 5. Since only one batsman on India's team hit double digits, it might be said that their effort was "a lost cause" (Robin Singh- 11 runs). The Indian batting order did a terrible job, as the team could only get 54 runs before being bowled out. It was the lowest score ever made in Sharjah during a one-day cricket match. India lost the game, which Sri Lanka won with a score of 245 runs to 0.
