Roger Federer performs first exhibition match since retirement

Roger Federer performed his first exhibition tennis match since retiring from the game.

Twenty-time Grand Slam winner Federer, who ended his 24-year-long tennis profession on the Laver Cup in London in September, took half in a quick match performed on the Ariake Coliseum in Tokyo, as part of an occasion organised by his long-time sponsor Uniqlo.

Federer teamed up with native participant Shingo Kunieda, World No. 1 in males’s wheelchair tennis. The 2 performed towards the duo was the pair of Gordon Reid, British World No. 4 in wheelchair tennis, and one other native participant, Kurumi Nara, a former World No. 32 in WTA Rankings.

Federer and Kunieda received the tiebreak set 8-6 in a match officiated by one other native favorite and Olympic bronze medallist Kei Nishikori.
