FINA World Championships: Katie Ledecky wins fourth 1,500m freestyle world title

American Katie Ledecky dominated the ladies's 1,500 metres freestyle occasion to assert her second gold medal on the swimming world championships in Budapest on Monday.

Ledecky, who gained the ladies's 400 metres freestyle occasion on the opening day, cruised to the gold medal with a time of quarter-hour and 30.15 seconds.

The 25-year-old completed greater than 14 seconds forward of compatriot Katie Grimes who took the silver whereas Australia's Lani Pallister took the bronze.

"I really like this pool, I knew I put within the work to have a very good swim and received right into a rhythm," Ledecky stated.

"I've received the relay, that is subsequent on the agenda after which I'll deal with the 800m. We'll see (if I can get a document)."

Earlier, Romanian teenager David Popovici smashed the world junior document as he powered to victory to take gold within the males's 200 metres freestyle occasion.

The 17-year-old turned the primary male Romanian swimmer to win gold on the world championships as he completed with a time of 1:43.21.

He completed greater than a second forward of South Korea's Hwang Solar-woo whereas Britain's reigning Olympic champion Tom Dean completed third.
